Q. How much will I really save?
A. Do you mean in terms of money or health?
As of Winter 2008: Members receive a 8% discount off of the listed United catalog prices.
Here’s pricing is calculated:
As a Club we have a 13% bulk buying discount – (13% less than what is already
listed in catalog). Tax is charged on all non food items.
Members pay a 5% surcharge on their orders – this gives the club funds to pay for
the church space, new freezer/scales, supplies.
Our club is in the black which is very rare with buying clubs.
Bottom line – when reading the catalog, you will be paying 8% less of the price that
is listed.
Q. Is it cheaper than Trader
Joes, Kroger, DLM, or the Health Food Stores?
A. It depends on what you are buying and how much.
True, some items like organic milk and name brand organic cereals are a little less expensive
through a store. Due to the organic milk shortage, stores usually get first dibs in ordering and offer it at a low markup
to bring
you into the store.
Most Club members find it cost effective, fresher, and more variety for many pantry items,
dairy and frozen items. Club members with allergen concerns on the whole find it cost effective. The club also
recieves a month extra sales specials on top of the bulk buy discount and the monthly catalog specials. Also, every
one loves a deal - many members opt to buy and split cases of sales items.
I would recommend that you compare the prices and offerings in the United
catalog and compare it to your recent grocery receipts.
